About

DelSheree Press is publishing based on mentorship, support, and great writing. We take a different approach to publishing. Rather than looking for the perfect manuscript that has been workshopped and polished in critique groups, MFA programs, or conferences, we look for those manuscripts that have a core idea that stands out but still needs some level of support to bring out its full potential.

Not every author has access to professional-level workshops or has a financial situation or time that would allow him or her to enroll in a creative writing program that would hone their skills. Some authors may not even have the opportunity to engage with other writers and learn from colleagues in the industry.

Many of these authors still have fantastic story ideas that will resonate with readers and that touch on important topics. Manuscripts like this often don’t receive requests from agents and publishers because they aren’t quite ready to meet the reading world, even though the core of the story is there.

Our goal is to seek out these authors who would benefit from an mentorship relationship with a publisher who is willing to invest the time and effort to make sure the core story idea is fully developed, refined, and polished to its absolute best.

This means working with one author at a time, not pursuing the common publishing strategy of signing many authors on the hope that one blockbuster book will pay for all the others that miss the mark on sales. We look for character-driven fiction where the reader can related to and identify with the characters and what they are experiencing. DelSheree Spinner is the founder of DelSheree Press. She started publishing independently in 2010, and later worked with a handful of small presses before returning to indie publishing. Very few resources were available when she first entered publishing, so she learned about the industry through trial and error (lots of errors) and has come to love helping other authors avoid newbie mistakes and develop their craft and publishing acumen in order to be successful authorpreneurs.
